The bottom line is that North Carolina has never dropped out of the top 10 in terms of states with the highest teenage pregnancy rate. Statistically speaking, the future for these young parents is bleak. Teenage parents are more likely to drop out of school, be poor and be imprisoned. The same is true for their children. They deserve better.

The Healthy Youth Act is a start.
